Maureen has proudly called Mansfield home since 1985, when she moved here from Boston with her husband, Bill, and their young family. “Mansfield is truly home to the Doherty family, which has grown to include two adult children, a daughter-in-law, and six grandchildren all of whom have attended or are currently enrolled in Mansfield Public Schools.”
A lifelong learner and committed public servant, Maureen returned to school after raising her family and earned a bachelor’s degree in management and finance from Newbury College. She also completed a Certificate in Construction Project Management from Northeastern University and a Graduate Certificate in Local Government and Leadership from Suffolk University’s Sawyer School of Business.
Maureen’s involvement in Mansfield began the same way it does for many families, through recreation programs, youth activities, and community events. Those early experiences sparked a lifelong commitment to local government and civic engagement. She began her public service career in Mansfield as a part-time minutes clerk for the Recreation Department and volunteered at countless community events, from summer programs to the Halloween Parade.
Over the years, Maureen has built a proven record of results in municipal government. She spent nearly a decade supporting the Municipal Building Committee during one of the busiest periods of public construction in Mansfield’s history, contributing to major projects including Town Hall renovations, public safety facilities, and school improvements. Her work helped ensure projects were delivered responsibly and with accountability to taxpayers.
Maureen went on to serve the Town of Sharon as the Commonwealth’s first female Owner’s Project Manager, later continued public service at the state level with the Department of Correction, and returned to local government as Chief Procurement Officer for the Town of Stoughton. Today, she provides municipal consulting services to communities across Massachusetts.
Maureen was named a Commonwealth Heroine by the Massachusetts State Women’s Commission. She received the Mansfield Elks Lodge #2633 Distinguished Citizenship Award for Outstanding and Meritorious Service to Humanity. She has been recognized by both the Massachusetts House of Representatives and the State Senate for her exceptional community leadership and service to the Town of Mansfield and the greater community.
Maureen brings a practical, action-driven approach to leadership—listening to residents, asking tough questions, and working collaboratively to deliver results. She is running to continue serving Mansfield with integrity, transparency, and a deep commitment to the community she proudly calls home.
